Carlos Lee Traded to Marlins

Carlos Lee Traded to Marlins

Jul 4, 2012

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting that the Houston Astros have traded Carlos Lee to the Miami Marlins for third baseman Matt Dominguez and pitcher Rob Rasmussen.

Lee reportedly exercised his right under his current contract to void a trade earlier in the week to the Dodgers. However, he was not able to veto a trade to the Marlins due to the fact that the Marlins were not one of the 14 teams listed in his no-trade clause.

The trade comes on the heels of news that Giancarlo Stanton will miss the remainder of the week and possibly longer due to his lingering knee issues.

Lee is batting .286 on the season with five home runs and 29 runs batted in. He will replace Gabby Sanchez as the starting first baseman.
